The Self-centeredness Anonymous Recovery Program

Self Centeredness Anonymous (SCA) is a 12-Step study group inspired by the study of the work of Dr. David R. Hawkins. SCA is not officially affiliated or connected to Dr. Hawkins in any form. SCA was formed to help us overcome our addictions to all aspects of self-centeredness.

SCA currently has telephone meetings everyday and one face-to-face meeting in Sedona, AZ. To participate in one of the phone meetings, simply call in. Anyone with an interest in recovering from self-centeredness is welcome to observe or participate in the meetings.

New Conference Dial-in Number: (712) 432-0180

Please note that while there is no cost for participation, depending on your phone service, this number may incur long-distance charges to your phone bill. Feel free to dial in early and ask questions if you are interested. Also, you can stay on the line afterward for fellowship and ask questions at that time as well. Use the same conference call line for each phone meeting.

The 12 Steps of Self-centeredness Anonymous

1. We admitted we were powerless over self-centeredness—that our lives had become unmanageable.
2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
3. Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God.
4. Made a searching a fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
5. Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.
6. Were entirely read to have God remove all these defects of character.
7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings.
8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.
11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry that out.
12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to self-centered addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Krish's Back to Basic (B2B) workshop, as coached by Wally, is simple, insightful and powerful. B2B cuts through the ego's propensity to complexify life and the 12 steps. It is a wise investment of an hour that can be used over & over to face and resolve challenges. Highly recommendable, especially learning to discern God's guidance. Blessings on the workshop Samantha.

Thank you for reminding me, Irene!
I will attend the online meetings as soon as possible.
I have a question about making a moral inventory and about sponsorship in this group.
I am trying to recall the past and see it in the light of my new found trust in God.
But some things are still not clear to me though.
This IS clear though:
"I am helpless against my feelings of self-centeredness and I am on the way of recovery through the help of God and the 12 step program"

Hey, Greg:

One thing that works for many people in the 12-step programs is something like, "Hi, I used to have a problem with addiction, and successfully recovering with the help of this program."

or, "I used to be a [alcoholic/addict/workaholic/debtor/sexaholic/gambler/depressed/neurotic/obsessive-compulsive], but I'm grateful to be recovering with the help of this program."

See how that feels.

Thanks!

Thanks for starting this group. I attend AA meetings regularly and still have a difficult time with the introduction....."Hi, I'm Greg and I;m an alcoholic". Maybe it's just denial but I don't have the symptoms of many alcoholics.... I just enjoy the groups and meetings and feel ike I'm somewhat "lieing" every time I say that. What I have been saying lately is, "Hi, I;m Greg, and I'm a selfaholic. I kind of mumble it so it sounds close to what I;m supposed to say. Just thought I'd share this with you.
