Merry Christmas everyone. There is a lady who talks to Dr Hawkins about reading the Upanshads and how it lead to the Void. The void was said to be lonely, "God was missing". This talk session is on youtube. It brings up the difference between the void, often said to be "the ulimate spiritual state or experience" and the Presence, which is the essence of love. The void is experientially very different than the Presence. In the Presence the essence of infinite love melts the ego and concepts of "not this, not that" and "to be, or not to be". Divinity is recognized as Allness.

Reading the gita was just like reading "I" - similar calibration level. "I" was easier to understand the description of the Presence. one may have a different expereince with the gita depending on the edition it seems. I read one edition by someone who was clearly not enlightened and it missed the point. My fav copy is The Bhagavad Gita As it Is. I haven't read the Upanishads.. but after the dawning  that Sanjaya, the one describing the battle to the blind king, was the real sage in the story (for lack of better description), there's no inclination to read more (however if the Upanishads fell in my lap, I'd read them!). To this perception, Sanjaya is the perfect example of fulfilling prior agreement with unconditional love.
